Family Day Fun!
Now that the scholastic journey
is proceeding in earnest, the PTA activities were launched with our first
Family Day for this term on Sunday, 7th November 2010. Around 280
people attended, most of them families with their children and other relatives.
Savio College was packed to capacity and it was a joy to see people enjoying
themselves as one Salesian Family.
The event kicked off with a mass
where Fr. Sandro pointed out that as Salesians, we draw our strength for all
our activities from Jesus and we bring the fruit of every activity to Him at
the end of the day. We do everything in Him, for Him and with Him. Hence, the
Sunday mass was a fitting beginning to our PTA activities.
Following mass, despite the drizzling rain and the pending storm with lightning flashing on the horizon, some dads played football with their sons while other parents attended a talk regarding the benefits of personal exercise in one’s daily life. Football fixtures were kindly organised by a Co-operator while the whole event continued to be ably spearheaded by the dynamic PTA committee.
After the talk, some parents opted to stay indoors and play tombola while others who were more adventurous, chose to go with Fr. Sandro for a brisk walk around the Cliffs even though the rain never stopped and lightening flashed continuously! It was still fun and parents relished the possibility of going on a refreshing walk around the countryside that embraces Savio College. Other children and parents chose to go to the Games rooms of the College and played in there as well.
Once we were all back, everyone seemed to be famished and tucked into the food provided. The whole event was over at around 6.15pm. It was indeed a very enjoyable evening that augurs extremely well for the activities that will surely be organised during the scholastic months ahead.
