Green Week Activity
Thanks to everyone's hard work the Home Economics Food Lab is finally taking shape. Ms Rebecca Bugeja would like to thank the students profusely for helping out today, especially those who sacrificed their recreation time to finish the cleaning and organising. Another big thank you goes to the LSAs - Ms Carmen Caruana and Ms Rita Montebello who also helped out, and all the teachers who helped carry the new equipment inside.
The lab should be up and running in the coming days...we'll keep you posted!
A big congratulations goes to Helenio Borg Muscat (3G), Ayrton Caruana (3G) and Luke Dalli (2Y), who spent three weeks of liturgical service at the Vatican, along with other Maltese altar boys. We are sure this experience was fruitful and positive for our boys.
As another scholastic year comes to an end it's time to wish all students and staff: HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! May we all have a deserved break in order to return fresh at the end of September.
This year's JA_YE Social Innovation Challenge sponsored by Microsoft has been won by Savio College. The team was formed from Clayton Fenech, Matthew Muscat, Jason Formosa, Ryan Cachia, Karl Bartolo, Dylan Zammit and Gabriel Tabone. The students were accompanied by Mr. Ludwig Micallef.
The event was held on Wednesday 12th June at Microsoft offices in Skyparks. In the words of the organisers themselves:
Prize day this year fell on two days, one of which was the feast of Mary helper of Christians. On this special day (Friday 24th May) solemn mass was celebrated in the morning followed by a school outing in which different forms attended various local attractions.
Monday 6th May was the feast of our school saint, Domenico Savio and, to celebrate, the whole school was involved in the annual Sports Day. The day started with mass and continued with various sports activities including Shuttle Run, Rugby Passes, Tug-o-war, Running, Long Jump and many more which pitted the skills of the Yellows againt the Greens. Teachers helped to referee the activities and Fr. Eric took some great photos (https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=588892884478752&set=a.5888910578...).
The 21st April saw Savio College open its doors for the annual Open Day, an event whereby prospective students get the chance to visit our school so that they can make the all important decision of which secondary school they will attend. What a showcase it was - lots of enthusiasm from both staff and students alike and a sense of pride and belonging from everyone involved combined with the contagious enthusiasm to share what the 'Savio experience' is all about.
On Sunday 14th April the honourable Joseph Muscat officially opened Savio College's new sports ground. It was a lovely sunny day enjoyed by many which was also a family day with entertainment, chance to take part in various fun activities, a raffle and the purchase of food and refreshments.
Savio college placed second this year in this annual event after having held the first place title for the last two years. Well done to Daniel Farrugia, Keith G Ciantar, Karl Bartolo and Ryan Cachia for performing to the very high standard that this award entails, under the extra guidance of Mrs. J Cassar.
